Design statement

My inspiration comes from YSL’s show site, which is located in Celtosa Island, Venice, Italy. The designer built a cross pavilion with multiple reflective surfaces using composite panels made of aluminum plates to complete the integration of space projection, art and fashion. So when I made my model, I added mirror stickers to the square to make the light reflect infinitely on several surfaces, making the space pass look very open, sci-fi, and infinitely malleable. In the design, the mirror is used to combine with other things, such as plants, sculpture or light and shadow.

In my studio, because the size of the space is limited, but Kara Walker’s silhouette art works need a large space to convey a strong visual experience, so I want to make the space look empty by using mirrors. At the same time, the exaggerated effect brought by mirror refraction can also enhance the visual experience of the viewer, making the viewer feel immersed.
